Synopsis

Dialectology at the Days of Academician Zinka Zorko. The scientific monographs Dialectology at the Days of Academician Zinka Zorka presents the papers from the symposium First Days of Academician Zinka Zorka (Selnica ob Dravi, 15 October 2022).

Academician Zinka Zorko has dedicated her life to science, research and teaching. She imparted her knowledge to her students with a distinctly personal touch, which made her as the most popular professor at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Maribor. She researched the Carinthian, Styrian and Prekmurje dialects, and founded the Maribor School of Dialectology. The monographs presents her "linguistic testament", that requires us to continue her work in the field of dialectology responsibly.

Author Biography

Marko Jesenšek (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Arts

Marko Jesenšek is a full professor of Slovene language at the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor; from 2003 to 2006, he was Vice-Rector for International and Inter-University Cooperation and from 2015 to 2018 Vice-Rector for Dislocated Members of the University of Maribor; he was the initiator for the establishment of the Faculty of Arts in Maribor and its first Dean (2006–2015); since 1 June 2017, he has been admitted to SAZU; since 1 October 2021, he has been Secretary of the Class of Philology and Literary Studies at SAZU. He is involved with the history of the Slovene language and language policy and planning. His bibliography includes 798 units (September 2021), including 10 independent scientific monographs and 2 co-authorships; he has organised 51 national and international conferences. For his scientific and research work, he received the Zois Prize for excellence in the field of the Slovene language in 2009.
