Local Safety and Security
Conference »Security in Local Communities«
Conference Security in Local Communities is the national conference on security in local communities. Since 2015, it has been organized by the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor, municipalities, and the Police Directorate of the city hosting the Conference that particular year. Its topics vary in line with current trends and developments in the field of local community security issues. It is intended for all institutions and individuals in any way charged with and responsible for ensuring security in local communities and those wishing to challenge their research findings with the practical needs of the community. The initiative for a national conference on security in local communities originated from the research programme group of the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor, and its past cooperation in the field of providing security in urban and rural settings. The topical guidelines of the research project relate to multidisciplinary studies of security in local communities, with the aim of proposing useful solutions for more effective provision of security in local communities (municipalities) in Slovenia, on the one hand, and to the development of theory in the field of local-environment safety/security, on the other. The work of the research programme group is funded by the Slovenian Research Agency.
