Synopsis

The Role of Advanced Technologies in Enterprise Engineering. Business systems are constantly confronted with the permanent need to make organizational changes in order to remain efficient, successful, and competitive in a changing business environment. One of the possible ways is the use of advanced technologies developed to utilize a large amount of available data to facilitate the work and improve the operations of business systems. For this purpose, the authors present the basics of various advanced technologies in their chapters. Based on literature reviews and research conducted, the reader is introduced to the possibilities of the practical use of advanced technologies in various business systems. In their chapters, the authors discuss the potential and current challenges of using advanced technologies. Authors classify the key success indicators of advanced technologies as leadership, comprehensive strategy, organizational structure and culture, cooperation of all stakeholders, and willingness to learn and adopt best practices. Only with a good understanding of the potential of advanced technologies and by closely following the application guidelines advanced technology can be expected to succeed in improving business systems.

Author Biographies

Eva Krhač Andrašec (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences

Eva Krhač Andrašec is an assistant professor at the Department of Enterprise Engineering. She successfully defended her doctoral dissertation titled "Business process improvement methods and techniques and their impact on the efficiency of organizational systems" in February 2023 at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences. She started her academic path at the same institution, earning a master's degree in Organization and Management of Business and Work Systems in 2016. Her primary research areas include business process management and quality management. She actively participates in international scientific conferences and research projects and is a co-author of several scientific articles published in international journals.

Benjamin Urh (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences

Benjamin Urh is an assistant professor in the field of Business and Work Systems Engineering. Since 2001, he has been a full-time employee of the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences. He lectures on new products and production processes development and production processes management. He actively participates in international scientific conferences and research projects and is the author or co-author of more than a hundred scientific and professional articles and papers. In addition, he conducts research work within the Laboratory of Enterprise Engineering, especially in new product development and business process management.
