Synopsis

Analytical Mechanics. In the course Analytical mechanics numerous problems in mechanics, particularly topics from dynamics, are treated in a more systematic way, as compared to ordinary physical problems, e.g., in relation to second Newton law. In this way, we can also include more complex geometries in the motion of bodies. The key part od analytical mechanics is introduction of generalized coordinates as independent variables of motion, used to express either Lagrange function or Hamiltonian. Finally, the corresponding differential equations must be solved in order to find the time development of generalized coordinates. Gravitation and oscillation are typical areas where the mathematical formalism of analytical mechanics can be used.

Author Biographies

Milan Ambrožič, Solkan Primary School

Milan Ambrožič made his PhD in 1996 with the work »Chiral nematics in confined cylindrical geometry« at the Faculty for mathematics and physics, University of Ljubljana. His research areas are theoretical: liquid crystals, mechanical properties of engineering materials, Weibull statistics and percolation. Until now he has been a coauthor of 10 physics books, among them four university textbooks. He was also employed at the Faculty for natural sciences and mathematics, University of Maribor (FNM UM), where he lectured various subjects, also Analytical mechanics. He achieved his assistant professor title at FNM UM a few times, first in 2006, while the last habilitation is still valid.

Arbresha Hölbl, University of Maribor, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics

I'm Arbresha Hölbl, I did my MSc in 2017 at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics: Physical properties of the intermetallic catalyst compound ZnPd : master thesis. I am employed at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Faculty of Energy Technology. I have been elected to the professional research assistant title in the habilitation area of physics. As a teaching assistant at the Faculty I teach various courses. I am a PhD student in physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. I am an active researcher, which is confirmed by published articles in renowned journals.
