Synopsis

Scientific Research Challenges on the Digital Transformation Journey. Digital transformation refers to the use of digital technologies to simplify business operations, increase efficiency, innovate products and services, adapt to customer needs, change ways of working, and collaborate within and between organizations. It has far-reaching implications and should be considered holistically (from economic, societal, and environmental perspectives). The papers presented are intended to help organizations and individuals facilitate their digital transformation journey. They describe the challenges of measuring digital and data maturity in small and medium-sized enterprises, analyzing the impact of digital technologies on elements of business model, the impact of digital transformation on individuals and society, the problem of subcutaneous microchip technology, and changing consumer behavior. In addition, the papers present the use of blockchain technology, an overview of the Internet of Things and cyber-physical systems, a methodology for strategic alignment of business and information technology, and the Essence approach, which combines software quality standards and software engineering.

Mirjana Kljajić Borštnar (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences

Mirjana Kljajić Borštnar is a full professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences. Her research work covers decision support, data mining and organizational learning. She is active in program committees of Bled eConference, SOR, DSI and DataScience. She is an academic representative in SRIP Smart cities and communities for AI, HPC & Big Data; executive board member of Ai4Slovenia, and editorial board member of journal Uporabna informatika.

Andreja Pucihar (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences

Andreja Pucihar is a full professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences. Her research focuses on digital business, digital transformation, innovation and digitalization of business models in the context of sustainable development. She is the head of the eCenter laboratory and the program committee chair of the traditional international Bled eConference. She also serves as a senior editor of Electronic Markets journal and editor of the Journal of Theoretical and Applied Electronic Commerce Research. She is also an academic representative in SRIP Smart cities and communities for digital transformation and a member of strategic council of Digital Innovation Hub Slovenia.
