Safety and Security in Local Communities : 2nd National Conference on Local Safety and Security. The conference proceedings present peer reviewed papers presented at the second national conference on local safety and security in Slovenia in November 2016. A lead topic of the conference is community policing, local crime prevention and the governmental strategies on local safety and security. Research papers present the development in efforts of evidence based crime prevention, policing and cooperation between local and state stakeholders in Slovenia. The papers in the proceedings discuss community policing in relation to geographic areas (the Pomurje region, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary), specific safety problems (traffic safety, domestic violence), intermediate sanctions (mediation), and specific cultures (Roma communities) as well as police cooperation in Hungarian regions, local agencies and implementation of national strategies, corporate management of private and public institutions, local residents, evidence based social control (crime analysis and community victimization surveys), cyberspace, and crime analysis and crime prevention.
