Synopsis

In this chapter, we focus on how music teaching can contribute to a better understanding of cultural diversity. Exploring different musical traditions helps students gain insight into various cultural contexts, while the inclusion of multicultural songs fosters tolerance and respect for other cultures, contributing to a more cohesive society. This approach not only enhances musical skills but also develops social skills such as empathy, critical thinking, and cultural sensitivity. The role of the teacher is emphasized, as they lead by example in encouraging pupils to embrace diversity. The chapter highlights the importance of music education, where pupils develop a sense of cultural understanding and intercultural coherence through music.
