Synopsis

Mental Health in Advanced Nursing Practice. Nursing needs are changing today; the management of challenging health problems in the field of mental health requires an ever-increasing involvement of nurses, experts in their field, who can contribute with additional expertise to the management of mental disorders and the vices that influence their occurrence, to the promotion of health, prevention and control of diseases. As stated in the International Council of Nurses (ICN) Advanced Nursing Guidelines 2020, patients deserve quality, safe, professional and affordable healthcare.

Author Biographies

Leona Cilar Budler, University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences

Leona Cilar Budler, PhD., is an Assistant Professor and young researcher, pedagogue and newly Doctor of Science of nursing with extraordinary achievements in her scientific activity. She received Deans recognition award in 2016 and Deans award in 2017. The faculty awarded her in 2017 for outstanding achievements. In 2019 she received an acknowledgement for the best PhD student and in 2020 an award for best researcher. In 2021 she received recognition for a young higher education teacher for outstanding pedagogical and research achievements and an award for the best researcher of the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences. Her pedagogical and research work focuses on mental well-being of adolescents and adults and on care for people with special needs.

Klavdija Čuček Trifkovič, University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences

Klavdija Čuček Trifkovič, PhD, is an Assistant Professor and Vice-dean for education at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Health Sciences (UM FHS). Her research and teaching focuses on mental health nursing and supervision. Her main research interest is focused on the problems in the psychiatric field, such as alcoholism, depression, quality of life. Also, an important area of her professional and research interest is supervision, where students learn to deal with difficult situations in clinical environments. She has many teaching responsibilities which include supervising and mentoring students in their clinical placements, and in their diploma preparation. As a lecturer, she has participated in numerous professional meetings and conferences, at home and abroad. She is also the author and co-author of various professional and scientific contributions.
