Synopsis

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education has the potential to transform traditional teaching and learning. It enables personalised learning experiences, simplifies administrative tasks, improves feedback mechanisms, and facilitates robust data analysis. This chapter explores the transformative impact of AI on education. First, the techniques for developing intelligent systems and technologies used in various applications are presented. These can be student-centred, teacher-centred, or education system-centred. Next, the benefits and challenges of AI, as well as its future potential in education, are presented. Ultimately, we emphasise that it is crucial to approach artificial intelligence in education with caution, considering potential risks and ethical concerns. We must be aware that technology supports, not replaces, humans.
