Synopsis

System Administration in Linux. This book is intended for beginners who want to acquire the basic knowledge and skills needed to manage the Linux operating system, as well as for experienced system administrators who want to refresh their knowledge. The book is divided into thematically organised chapters that start with an introduction to Linux and gradually delve deeper into its basic components. Readers will learn how to write Bash scripts, harness the power of sed and awk scripts, manage users efficiently, optimise disks and file systems, and configure network resources. The book includes numerous real-world examples that provide practical insights and reinforce the concepts covered. Author Biographies

Iztok Fister, ml., University of Maribor, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

Iztok Fister, Jr. graduated in 2011, received his Master's degree in 2013 and 2019 and his PhD in 2017 from the University of Maribor. His research interests focus on data mining, ubiquitous computing and optimization methods. His work has been published in more than 120 papers that have appeared in scientific journals, conferences and book chapters. Iztok is a member of 5 editorial boards of scientific journals and participates as a program committee member in renowned conferences worldwide. Iztok is currently elected as an Associate Professor and works as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Maribor.

Iztok Fister received received the degree in computer science from the University of Ljubljana in 1983, and the Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor in 2007. Since 2010, he was a Teaching Assistant with the Computer Architecture and Languages Laboratory, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Maribor. His research interests include computer architectures, programming languages, operational researches, artificial intelligence, and evolutionary algorithms. In his research areas, he has published many original scientific papers, review papers, book chapters, edited books, and contributed to more prominent international scientific conferences around the world. He is also one of the presidents in the international student conference in computer science. In many journals with impact factor, he has been promoted as the outstanding reviewer.
