Synopsis

Introduction: the basic form of rotating machines of magnetic circuit, rotating magnetic field and harmonic components of magnetic field, winding of AC machines, winding factor of different winding types, induced voltage of the winding, description of current sheet, reactance of windings, losses and efficiency, heating and cooling.
Induction machine: description of construction and method of working, analytical treatment, method of operating on strong grid, starting of motors and changing of rpm and torque, breaking, induction generator, single-phase induction motors.
Synchronous machine: description of construction and method of working, operating on strong grid, analytical treatment, operating unsaturated machine on strong and own grid, treatment of saturated machine, transient operating, exiting systems and use of permanent magnets for exiting, synchronous motors with permanent magnets, step motors.
Commutator machine: description of construction and method of working, windings, theory of DC machines, commutation problems, commutation by electronics, characteristics of different stator and rotor connection, changing of rpm, alternating commutator machine.

Author Biographies

The author’s research field of this publication are electrical machines and electromagnetic devices with the emphases on induction machines. The author also collaborated in development of a computer tool named "emLook" i. e. calculation algorithm for the purpose of analytical characteristics’ calculation or numerical magnetic field analysis for different types of rotating electrical machines. The computer tool is used by a majority of Slovenian manufacturers of electrical rotation machines.

Co-author of this publication research field are development of computer software for analytical characteristic calculation and magnetic field numerical analyses of different types of rotating electrical machines. Co-author was main computer software developer of computer tool named "emLook" i. e. calculation algorithm for the purpose of analytical characteristics calculation for different types of rotating electrical machines. The computer tool is used by majority of Slovenian rotating electrical machines manufacturers.
