Synopsis

Let's go, statistics! The textbook presents the basic statistical concepts and the calculation of descriptive statistics, and illustrates the use of statistical programs PSPP and SPSS for this purpose. It presents statistics in a contemporary way focusing on interpretation and understanding of results obtained by statistical programs. The acquired knowledge is crucial for student’s preparation of the final thesis.

Author Biographies

Vanja Ida Erčulj, University of Maribor, Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security

Vanja Erčulj is a lecturer leading methodological and statistical courses at the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor. She is a member of research groups working on different research projects, one of them being Safety in local communities. She acquired the scientific titles of Master and Doctor of Science at the Interdisciplinary Study of Statistics at the University of Ljubljana.

Ajda Šulc, University of Maribor, Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security

Ajda Šulc is an assistant for sociology and methodology at the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor, holding a Master of Science from Criminal Justice and Security. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, for the field of Social Sciences Methodology. She cooperated on several research projetcs on media, migration, hateful (online) discourse and peer violence.
