Synopsis

The scientific monograph on current topics of tourism development, which is intertwined with the field of health, well-being, and the role of local authorities in planning, implementing, and evaluating policies and practices related to public health issues, offers the reader a systematic theoretical review of scientific literature, as well as case studies of the topics discussed. The content is presented by numerous researchers and experts who are active in Slovenia or other countries of the former Yugoslavia. The topics address current issues in the development of tourism science. The content is multidisciplinary and interconnects various views and concepts that provide an insight into the profession for the needs of further development of the sector.

Author Biographies

Maja Borlinič Gačnik (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Tourism

Maja Žibert achieved her Ph.D.'s study in agrarian economics at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Tourism, University of Maribor (Slovenia). Her research includes papers in wine tourism, rural tourism development area, destination management, and system dynamics. In the year 2014/2015 she was regional Wine Queen of Slovenia and in 2017 she was Slovenian Wine Queen. She was visiting professor at Mendel University in Brno in 2022.

Milica Rančić Demir (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Tourism

Milica Rančić Demir, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Tourism, University of Maribor (Slovenia). She received her doctorate in geosciences from the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Sciences, Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management (Serbia). Her main fields of interest are wellness tourism, hotel management, food and beverage management and quality management. She is the author and co-author in numerous research papers and conference proceedings. She has taken part in different domestic and international projects in the area of tourism, hotel management and food science.
