Synopsis

Statistics: Seminar Tutorials for the 2nd Part of the Course. The course Statistics (the second part of the course), for which this collection of exercises/tutorials is intended, is important for students to develop the ability to understand the information in data. These tutorials contain the following chapters: data visualisation using tables and graphs, relative numbers, measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, skewness and kurtosis, confidence intervals for statistical parameters and the basis of hypothesis testing of statistical parameters, basics of simple regression and basics of time series analysis and forecasting.

Author Biographies

Polona Tominc, University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business

Polona Tominc is a full professor and Head of the Department of Quantitative Economic Analysis at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business (UM FEB). Her research focuses on quantitative statistical methods in economics and business sciences, especially in the field of entrepreneurship, gender differences and behavioral differences between social groups in different areas of governance, and on exploring different aspects of higher education quality. She is a member of the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management at UM FEB. She is the head of the Slovenian research program "Entrepreneurship for an Innovative Society" and a member of the research team of the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor Slovenia.

Maja Rožman, University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business

Maja Rožman has acquired her Master degree at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Maribor at the Department of Finance and the PhD at the Department of Management. She is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Department of Quantitative Economic Analyses. Her research work is focused on quantitative methods in economics and business sciences and also on contemporary management problems in organizations, especially in the field of human resource management.
