Synopsis

Conference proceedings consist of abstracts of conference papers presented at the 13th international biennial conference on Criminal Justice and Security in Central and Eastern Europe organised by the Faculty of Criminal Justice ans Security of the University of Maribor, Slovenia. The conference was held online between 13 and 15 September 2021. A lead topic of the conference is rural criminology and perspectives such as deviance, crime and social control activities, and provision of safety ans security. At the conference, 68 papers were presented by 116 authors from 22 countries. A celebration of the 25th anniversary of the international biennial conference took place. The conference proves an active and fruitfull international research activities of the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security of the University of Maribor.

Author Biographies

Gorazd Meško (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security

Gorazd Meško has been working at the Faculty of Security Sciences since 1992. He is the head of the Chair of Criminology and the Institute of Criminal Justice and Security, and a leading researcher of the Security and Safety in Local Communities research programme. He has conducted national and international studies in the field of research. He has organized national and international conferences. He is the author of articles in renowned international journals and the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Criminal Investigation and Criminology. He is also an editor and reviewer in many international journals. In 2014, he received the Zois Award for research work in the field of environmental criminology. Since the autumn of 2015, he has been the International Ambassador of the British Criminological Association.

Bojan Dobovšek (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security

Bojan Dobovšek, Ph. D., Full Professor of Criminology at the Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security, University of Maribor, Slovenia. He was also a member of Commission for the Prevention of Corruption as representative of Judiciary branch of power. He is the author of books and articles on organised crime and corruption and financial crime. Research projects: Corruption and Rule of Law; Informal networks and State capture; Financial crime; Crime and Tourism; Art Crime; Investigating Ecological crime. He was a researching partner of Institute fur Politikwissenschaft und Socialforschunf, University of Wurzburg, Germany and visiting professor on Law Faculties in Ghent, Sarajevo and others in the region. Professor Bojan Dobovšek, was a member of Parliament and a leader of Deputy Group of Unaffiliated Deputies, in Slovenian Parliament.
