Synopsis

Management of Organizations: Textbook.The purpose of the textbook is to offer students a comprehensive insight into the development of management, basic concepts and models of management, the possibility of using management knowledge in a modern business environment and to present possible directions for future development of management organizations. The textbook discusses the basic areas of management and their connection with the dynamic environment of modern organizations, which is consistent with the content of basic management subjects in the study of business sciences. In the textbook, we focused on the whole of management planning, organizing, leading and controlling in the conditions of the modern global environment. For individual areas of management, we present the basic principles of their design, development over time, their use in organizations and possible directions of their development in the future. The mission of the textbook is to combine past theoretical knowledge, modern application practices and present possible directions of management development for a better understanding of current and possible practices and behavior of organizations.

Author Biographies

Vojko Potočan , University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business

Vojko POTOČAN, Ph.D. (in Business) is a Full Professor of Management and Organization at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), University of Maribor. He teaches in three universities in Slovenia and in several universities abroad (such as Germany, Hungary, Poland, and Croatia). He takes part in different international scientific conferences and has conducted a number of study visits abroad. He has published over 450 texts (over 300 in foreign languages in 40 countries), including 12 books - with leading publishers Pearson, IGI, Palgrave Macmillan, edited proceedings and textbooks. Dr. Potocan has published over eighty articles in peer reviewed scholarly journals including but not limited to Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Business Ethics, European Journal of Management, Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, and Journal of World Business.

Zlatko Nedelko, University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business

Zlatko NEDELKO, Ph.D. (in Business) is an associate professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business, Slovenia. He was a visiting researcher at Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria (2012), and visiting professor at Vilnius Gedminas Technical University, Vilnius, Lithuania (2014) and at Obuda University, Budapest, Hungary (2019). He has published his articles in peer reviewed scholarly and co-authored books with Pearson, Palgrave Macmillan, IGI Global. He led several projects funded by Slovene Human Resource Development and Scholarship fund. He also led several projects aimed on scientific cooperation with United States of America, Germany, Russia, Hungary, Serbia and Croatia, funded by Slovenian Research Agency.
