Synopsis

Challenges of Slavic Studies in the 21st Century: 4th International Scientific Conference Slavic Scientific Reflections, Book of Abstracts. The linguistic contributions include comparative-historical and dialectological research of Slavic languages, comparative research of modern Slavic languages, sociolinguistic, linguocultural and computer research of Slavic languages, research on the standardization and norms of Slavic languages. In the field of Slavic literature and cultures, we will address topics on Slavic literature in a comparative, interliterary and intercultural perspective, Slavic literature in film, theoretical aspects of the study of contemporary Slavic literature, the interrelationships of Slavic literature and cultures, translations of Slavic literature. The conference will also shed some light on the didactic aspect and perspectives of Slavic studies through the prism of the development of contemporary Slavic studies and the teaching of Slavic languages, literature and cultures.

Author Biography

Gjoko Nikolovski (ed.), University of Maribor, Faculty of Arts

Gjoko Nikolovski (1980) holds a PhD in Slovene linguistics and works as an assistant professor for the Slovene language and a lecturer for Slavic languages. He is employed at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures of the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor, where he teaches Slovene as a second and foreign language and South Slavic languages (Croatian, Serbian and Macedonian). He researches South Slavic languages on different linguistic levels from a synchronous and diachronic point of view. He has been involved in the research and application projects Slovene Language in Contact with the European Danube and Alpine Space (2011–2012), Digitalization and Access to Dictionary Resources (2018–2019) and Slovene in the Palm of Your Hand (2017–2021). He was the head of the Student Innovative Projects for Social Benefit; under these projects, they created two freely accessible web applications SOS Slovene (2019) and Hotel Slovene (2020), which are intended for learning Slovene as a second and foreign language. Since 2018, he has been a member of the Slovene Linguistics, Literature and Slovene Language Teaching Program Group (P6-0156).
