Synopsis

Studio III 2019-2020: Maribor on the Drava river – Students Projects of the Bachelor's Study Program Archiceture. The work in Studio III is based on the comprehensive integration of the broadest humanistic views, technical knowledge and skills with the art of architectural design and on the promotion of awareness of the social responsibility of architects in the broadest social and cultural context. Practical work on a concrete project is complemented by lectures on the complexity and methods of architectural planning. The special feature of working at Studio III is the formation of thoughts with a model as a transfer of ideas into the material. Unlike the previous practice, when every year we discussed one of the potential locations along the Drava and placed the selected program in it, in this year's Studio III we based on these research tests of the urban potential of individual locations along the Drava and other architectural initiatives (eg UGM and MAKS) and the direction of newer realizations, such as the Faculty of Medicine, developed conceptual designs for the entire area along the city part of the Drava River from the Studenška footbridge to the two-storey Meljski most. The considered space was divided into ten interconnected locations. Each location was addressed by one or two groups of s two students each and placed the most appropriate program on the location, coordinated with the immediate context and the entire set of all ten locations. In the end, we presented the result with an attractive group composition, which even more clearly highlighted the urban potential of this space.
