The monograph depicts the role of Slovene language in the intercultural area of Panonian region. It consists of 3 chapters. The first chapter presents linguistic research dealing with the question of how the regional contact of the Slovene language is being established with other (non)Slavic languages. The second chapter presents Slovar slovenskega knjižnega jezika 16. stoletja // SSKJ16 (Dictionary of the 16^th-Century Slovenian Literary Language // SSKJ16), the most important lexicological work in the field of diachrony of Slovene language in the late twenties. The third chapter presents Veliki madžarsko-slovenski spletni slovar (Hungarian-Slovenian Comprehensive Dictionary). Slovenia and Hungary put forward an initiative for a joint lexicological project; and in 2015, the Slovene language department at the ELTE Faculty in Budapest was entrusted with its development. Both SSKJ16 as well as Hungarian-Slovene Comprehensive Dictionary are regarded as excellent academic projects.

The monograph presents Slovene language research of national importance. It addresses the diversity of language, literary and cultural heritage, as well as scientific and research collaboration of Slovene language scholars in the region where Slovene language is establishing contact with other (non)Slavic languages.
