Pogled v jezik in iz jezika: Adi Vidovič Muha ob jubileju

A Look into the Language and from the Language: To Ada Vidovič Muha on her Anniversary. The monograph of seventeen autonomous papers A Look into the Language and from the Language is dedicated to Ada Vidovič Muha, honorary professor at the Department of Slovene Studies at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana. Through their contributions, her closest colleagues and former students draw particular attention to the fields of linguistics which Ada Vidovič Muha researched most intensively in the past and continues to research in the present. Thus the beginnings and development of functional structuralism in Slovene are described and partially critically discussed. The development of Slovene lexicology and lexicography, as well as the more detailed and comprehensive growth of Slovene word-formation are also considered. Moreover, certain grammatical or syntactical characteristics and features are highlighted, sometimes from a contrastive viewpoint. With the issues of genres and language style, research in text linguistics becomes a focus of attention. Questions of usage, standards and language culture in general are looked at also from the language policy point of view. All of the above can be logically connected as current topics that are part of Slovene linguistic research. A broader consideration is enabled by the contrastive commentary of similar or related occurrences in other Slavic languages. So looking into the Slovene language and from the Slovene language will remain an inexhaustible source of questions and new topics for current and future linguists.
