Synopsis

The paper examines the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in human resource (HR) planning. It first introduces the field of AI, including its types, functioning, AI and machine learning systems, and their applicability. The next section describes the HR planning process, divided into three phases (situation analysis, demand prediction and forecasting and formulation of HR plans) and three planning levels (long-term or strategic, medium-term or tactical, and short-term or operational), along with an analysis of AI’s applicability in this process. The key contribution of this paper is the synthesis of existing theoretical and practical insights into AI’s opportunities for using AI in the human resource planning process. . Based on a literature review, integrating advanced HR planning methods with AI and machine learning improves the accuracy of workforce insights and forecasts, enables easier decision-making and enhances HR planning efficiency through automation and optimization. The paper contributes to understanding AI in the context of HR planning, further development and the implementation of AI-driven solutions to foster improvements and advancements in the field.

Maruša Bizjak Ferjan, University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Public Administration

Maruša Ferjan is a doctoral student at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Maribor, and an assistant at the Faculty of Public Administration, University of Ljubljana. Her research areas include human resource management, management of the aging worktorce, and digital transtormation, with a tocus on the opportunities tor implementing artificial intelligence, factors influencing its adoption, and ethical aspects.

Mojca Bernik, University of Maribor, Faculty of Organizational Sciences

Mojca Bernik is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Organizational Sciences, University of Maribor, and Vice-Dean tor Educational Affairs. Her research interests focus on two areas: the development of human resource management in organizations and challenges in the field of workforce planning. Throughout her career, she has. participated in numerous projects in the business sector in Slovenia as well as in.international projects. The results of her research work are reflected in numerous publications both domestically and internationally.
