Crime in Slovenian Municipalities
Synopsis
The paper focuses on trends and characteristics of crime in Slovenian municipalities. Based on data on crime and population, we determined crime trends in urban and other municipalities in the period 2000–2024. Crime, crime rates, and crime indexes were analysed. On average, the number of crimes in urban municipalities was higher than in other municipalities. A comparison of crime trends in urban and other municipalities showed differences in crime trends in the period 2000–2024. An analysis of individual groups of crimes showed that the number of different forms of crime, with the exception of crimes against human rights and freedoms, was higher in urban municipalities. The findings indicate a greater prevalence of crime in urban settings in comparison to other local environments.
