12th National Conference on Local Safety and Security: Peace as the Foundation of Security and Resilience in Local Communities. Conference proceedings comprise peer-reviewed papers presented at the 12th National Conference on Safety and Security in Local Communities, which took place in Slovenj Gradec in September 2026. The main theme of the conference is safety and security in local communities, and the focus of this year's conference is on ensuring peace as the foundation of security and resilience of local communities. The contributions are the result of research within the program group "Safety and Security in local communities - Comparison of rural and urban environments" and cooperation with practitioners from the police and local communities. The contributions focus on ensuring safety and security, and perceived threats in local communities, crime characteristics, violence among young people, the effects of new legislation on safety and security, the importance of road infrastructure development and traffic accidents, safety on ski slopes, response to natural disasters, municipal security programs, and digital transformation and cybercrime.
