Tourism Potential of the Mađerkin Breg Viewpoint
Synopsis
This paper analyses the tourism potential of the Mađerkin Breg Viewpoint in the municipality of Štrigova as a modern rural attraction within the diversification of Croatian tourism toward continental regions and year-round operations. The viewpoint is considered part of the broader cultural landscape of Međimurje, particularly the wine route, and as an infrastructural and interpretative element supporting rural and sustainable tourism development. The research is based on descriptive analysis of the attraction’s offer and secondary visitor data. A SWOT analysis identifies key strengths, including its unique geographical position, panoramic view of five countries, modern infrastructure and integration into the wine tourism system. Weaknesses include limited promotion and digital visibility, access and parking constraints, a lack of cashless payment options, and limited accessibility. Opportunities relate to digital transformation, development of thematic events and group visits, while threats include competition, rising costs and labour shortages. Based on the findings, measures are proposed to improve management, accessibility and digital presence, including the introduction of online ticketing and cashless payments, as well as the development of year-round content through cycling and event-based programmes.
