The Countryside. Over the past three decades, the boundary between urban areas and countryside has become increasingly blurred. The concept of countryside has become more difficult to define. We often talk about the countryside without being completely sure what we are talking about. The scientific monograph Countryside is thus, on the one hand, a tribute to the research tradition of the Department of Geography in Maribor, and on the other hand, a bold leap into the field of geography, the clear definition of which is becoming increasingly elusive. The monograph highlights some unfavorable processes in the Slovenian countryside, attempts to present alternative solutions, and pays attention to perceptions, representations, concepts, and behaviors in countryside for the purposes of raising awareness among various publics and for the field of education. The monograph contains ten chapters related to Slovenian rural landscapes. The content also presents interesting starting points for new research.
