Licensing and Open Access

The University of Maribor Press is primarily an open access publisher that promotes modern approaches to scholarly publishing. It is committed to the broad dissemination of knowledge and research outputs, encouraging authors to publish their works in open access whenever possible.

All e-books published since 2016 are available in open access. Each publication must be assigned a Creative Commons licence, ensuring clear terms of use and distribution.

Creative Commons Licences

  • CC BY (Attribution)
    Allows use, distribution, adaptation, and commercial use, provided that proper credit is given to the author.

  • CC BY-SA (Attribution – ShareAlike)
    Allows use and adaptation, including for commercial purposes, provided that derivative works are distributed under the same licence.

  • CC BY-ND (Attribution – NoDerivatives)
    Allows redistribution, including commercial use, as long as the work remains unchanged and is properly credited.

  • CC BY-NC (Attribution – NonCommercial)
    Allows use and adaptation for non-commercial purposes only, with appropriate attribution.

  • CC BY-NC-SA (Attribution – NonCommercial – ShareAlike)
    Allows non-commercial use and adaptation, provided that derivative works are licensed under identical terms.

  • CC BY-NC-ND (Attribution – NonCommercial – NoDerivatives)
    Allows downloading and sharing with attribution, but no modifications and no commercial use.

Traditional Publishing

In addition to open access publishing, the University of Maribor Press also offers traditional publishing options. These include printed books in paperback or hardcover format, which may be distributed free of charge or sold, with a minimum print run of 50 copies.
