Author Guidelines

Authors are advised to carefully review the Information for Authors section prior to submission:

To be considered for publication by the University of Maribor Press, the following must be submitted:

  • a completed Publication Proposal Form (available under Information for Authors, section 2),

  • the final version of the manuscript, which must be properly proofread and peer-reviewed,

  • the title and subtitle of the publication,

  • an abstract (up to 150 words),

  • at least five keywords describing the manuscript as a whole.

Particular attention should be given to a consistent and appropriate citation and referencing style. The University of Maribor Press recommends the use of the APA 7 style.

Submissions are processed primarily on a first-come, first-served basis, while also taking into account the level of urgency. This determines the order in which publications enter the production process.

For scientific and professional monographs, the Press uses two standard formats:

  • primary format: 16.5 × 23.5 cm,

  • secondary format: A4 (ISO 216).

The primary typeface is Garamond, with UM blue (RGB: 0, 106, 142) and black as the main text colors.

A formal approval issued by the publishing faculty (member institution) proposing the publication is a mandatory requirement for the publication process.

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The application for a proposal to publish a publication at the University of Maribor Press has been completed.
  • The manuscript for submission is prepared in permitted file formats (.docx, .doc. .pdf).
  • The consents of third parties (authors, holders of material copyrights) for the use of their copyrighted works (graphs, images, photographs…) in the proposed publication are regulated.
  • Application for a proposal for publishing at the University Press is complet.
  • The minimum resolution of the graphic material used is at least 300 dpi.
  • Graphical guides for table design are followed.

Copyright Notice

Authors who submit a manuscript agree to publish the publication with the University of Maribor Press:

  • in electronic form (e-book), that it will be published in open access under the selected Creative Commons license.
  • in printed form (hard or softcover), that it will be published under the license (C) University of Maribor, University of Maribor Press all rights reserved.

What does the processing of personal data mean and when is it permitted? Processing of personal data means any operation or set of operations performed on personal data, whether by automated means or not. This includes collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure, or destruction.

Personal data may only be processed where there is a legal basis for doing so, as defined by applicable law.

Names and email addresses used for the operation of the University of Maribor Press and displayed on its website are used exclusively for these purposes and are not made available for any other use or to any third parties. Data relating to website users will never be used or shared without the user’s explicit consent. Upon request, a user’s email address can be removed from mailing lists. All personal data relating to a user is available to them upon request.
