About the Press

 

The University of Maribor Press, established in 2008, has been operating as a modern and dynamic academic publishing center since 2016. It follows the evolving trends in scholarly communication and responds to the challenges of a rapidly changing research environment.

Its primary mission is to support the publishing activities of the University of Maribor and its members, while ensuring the broad dissemination of scientific, professional, and artistic achievements of authors from the University of Maribor as well as other distinguished authors in the international arena.

The Press publishes approximately 100 different publications annually and issues 15 scientific and professional journals. Its publishing program includes scientific monographs, textbooks, journals, and other publications across a wide range of disciplines, including science, technology, arts, humanities, and social sciences, in both print and electronic formats. The Press assigns DOI identifiers to its publications, ensuring their permanent accessibility and international visibility.

As an open access publisher, it actively contributes to the accessibility of knowledge and provides the academic community with a modern environment for developing new models of scholarly communication, particularly open access publishing. In doing so, it collaborates with established national and international organizations and platforms, including Crossref, UKM, NUK, DKUM, SVAROG, dLib.si, DOAB, DOAJ, OAPEN, ScienceOpen, and STA Znanost.
