Synopsis
The development of rural tourism is one of the key factors in the sustainable development of smaller destinations, especially in areas rich in natural, cultural and eno-gastronomic heritage. The municipality of Štrigova, located in the northwestern part of Međimurje County, stands out for precisely such potentials, and the Dragon Garden and the Štrigova Cellar play a special role in shaping its tourist offer. The aim of this paper is to analyze the aforementioned tourist entities as examples of thematic and experiential content that contribute to the development of the Štrigova destination. The paper is based on the analysis of available secondary sources, fieldwork, and a qualitative analysis of the offer, advantages, and disadvantages of the aforementioned attractions. The analytical and experimental part provides a detailed analysis of the Dragon Garden and the Štrigova Cellar, including their history and role in the tourism development of the local community. The prospective part of the paper proposes guidelines for improving the offer through stronger integration of content, innovation, and promotion. In conclusion, it is emphasised that the Dragon Garden and Štrigova Cellar have significant potential for the further development of Štrigova as a recognisable destination in continental Croatia.
