Peer Review, Proofreading & Similarity Check
1. Peer Review Process
All publications published by the University of Maribor Press undergo a mandatory peer review process in accordance with the Rules on Publishing Activity of the University of Maribor. Each monograph must be reviewed by two experts, one of whom may be affiliated with the University of Maribor, while the other must be an external reviewer.
Reviewers are appointed by editorial boards led by representatives of publishing activities at the faculties of the University of Maribor. These boards cover all scientific, professional, and artistic fields, ensuring an appropriate level of expert evaluation.
2. Proofreading Process
Proofreading is mandatory for all publications issued by the University of Maribor Press, as defined by the Rules on Publishing Activity of the University of Maribor.
The proofreading process must be documented by a certificate of completed proofreading, which must be submitted with the publication. This ensures the linguistic accuracy and overall quality of all published works.
3. Similarity Check of Manuscripts
The University of Maribor Press places strong emphasis on verifying the originality of submitted manuscripts. Publications in Slovene are checked using the in-house developed UM DPV tool, developed by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the University of Maribor, as well as the iThenticate software.
Publications in foreign languages are checked using iThenticate. This process ensures a high level of academic integrity and helps prevent inappropriate textual overlap with previously published works.
