Synopsis

The project “Attention behind the wheel – The invisible cause of traffic accidents” was created in response to the deterioration of traffic safety in the area of the Celje Police Department. Analyses show that in addition to traditional risk factors such as inappropriate speed, driving under the influence of alcohol and violations of road traffic regulations, driver inattention also plays an important role, especially due to the use of mobile phones and the increasing digitalization of control systems in vehicles, where touch screens replace ergonomically efficient physical buttons, which increases the driver's cognitive load and reduces his attention to traffic. The purpose of the project is to systematically raise awareness and educate all road users about the risks associated with distractions while driving, and to promote safe and responsible behaviour. The project includes the implementation of preventive activities, professional lectures, and cooperation with the media.
