Evaluation of Legal Scholarship in Slovenia: Manifesto for Legal Scholarship in Slovenia. Evaluation of Legal Scholarship in Slovenia – Manifesto for Legal Scholarship in Slovenia and Contributions from the Conference, addresses the critical issue of inappropriate research evaluation criteria applied to legal scholarship, which are largely modeled after the quantitative metrics of the natural and technical sciences. The authors and conference participants emphasize that law is not only a social science but also a humanities discipline deeply intertwined with the national language, culture, legislation, and judicial practice. While fully supporting international engagement, they warn that the current academic promotion and funding systems systematically marginalize domestic legal publications in Slovenian, scholarly monographs, and research essential to the functioning of the Slovenian rule of law. Consequently, the Manifesto calls for a reformed evaluation framework based on a balance between international openness and national responsibility, proper recognition of domestic legal journals, and the preservation of the Slovenian legal language as a cornerstone of legal certainty and statehood.
