Ana Wambrechtsamer’s Literary Creativity in View of Slovene-German Interculturality

Synopsis

The present paper is a contribution to the understanding of the intercultural activity of the writer Ana Wambrechtsamer. It is based primarily on records from Slovene and German Styrian newspapers. The central part focuses on the author’s historical novel Heut Grafen von Cilly und nimmermehr (1933), which became a literary bestseller among Styrian German and Slovene readers in its original version and in Slovene translation. The paper presents the novel’s features, its critical reception, and the figure of Veronika of Desenice.
