Synopsis

User experience plays a key role in the success and efficiency of e-learning environments. Despite the growing number of studies in this area, there is still a lack of up-to-date, comprehensive analyses that systematically show the development and trends of user experience research in e-learning. The purpose of the paper is to analyze research directions and identify topics and technologies related to user experience in the e-learning context.  The study is based on a bibliometric analysis of scientific publications collected from the Web of Science database using VOSviewer software to visualize and identify thematic clusters. The results show that the most important research topics in the field of user experience in e-learning include user experience in e-learning, perception of user experience, data-supported e-learning systems, interactive learning environments, augmented reality, user interface design, mobile learning, and challenges of user experience in e-learning. We also identified the technologies that most frequently appear in the context of user experience and e-learning. The research contributes to a better understanding of user experience and e-learning and provides a comprehensive picture of these fields, which can serve as a starting point for future research.
